I have a Samsung x426 with a pre merger AT&T wireless plan. I purchased this in 8/04. My phone was dropped and died. We will possibly change to a different service provider next August so we have a more suitable plan for 2 kids away at college out of state. My sim card is intact. How can I purchase a replacement phone without paying a fortune or buying a new plan. I see phones for sale on eBay but I don't know what I need to look for to be sure that I can use it if I buy it. Also does the sim card retain my current phone number so that a different phone just needs the sim card and will work like my old one as far as my phone book numbers saved and what my personal cell phone muber is?
    Thanks
