when the os does not load and all you get is the logo repeatedly booting:

1 pop out the back plate, and then the screw connecting the battery.

2 just unplug the sensor cable and snap it back in.

make sure the iPhone is connected to a power source (though not pertinent if the battery has enough juice)

Hi,there.I updated my iPhone to ios6.1.1 several days ago.In general.there''re two ways to make it.First is to update with the iPhone itself.Settings-Common use- Software update. You can directly update here.
The other way is what I suggest.Use iTunes to update your iPhone.

These things happen, my friend. Though I wish they'd stop happening to me...

I try to always follow up on my 'problem posts' on various forums. Maybe another user will benefit from my experience.

    OK... Smart phone, dumb biker.

Problem turned out to be that I was using the wrong USB port. iPhone needs a USB 2.0 port, or it wont do an upgrade or restore. I'd been using a USB 1.0 port all along for syncing, and it worked. But it didnt occur to me to check the port types directly.

The bottom line: Wulf outsmarted himself again...

Further info: After the failed update, iTunes reported an iPhone in Restore Mode. Said I had to restore it before I could update, etc. OK... Click restore. iTunes extracts software, time passes, and it presents me with a "Restore Failed" notice.

    What to do now?...

I have an iPhone 4S (AT&T) that Ive had for about four months. Not jailbroken or anything, just plain vanilla. This evening I was trying to update to iOS 6.0, using iTunes on a computer running Winbloze 7 starter. The update failed, and iTunes reports an "Unknown Error: 1604." Anybody got any ideas as to WTF happened?
