i want to setup IM forwarding on my cell phone, everytime i attempt to set up AOL/AIM IM forwarding, it says its sent the confirmation text to my cell, but i never recieve it, im pretty sure it doesnt matter, but ive tried both my i530 and i730 and it doesnt work with either one of them. i know it will work with both phones because i have friends with both the i730 and i530 and it works for them. i can send and recieve text messages with other cell phones, and i have basic web for my plan, i know that the AOL Instant Messanger web feature isnt required either because my friends dont have it. is it possible that it could be my sim card?please help me, thank you

i think it sends it as a 2 way message. Try sending yourself a test message and see if you get it as a net alert. Your phones email is it's mobile number @messaging.nextel.com (ie: [email protected]) If you don't get it you may have alerts set to delay or even filtered in the profile.

Now if you want to use aol instant messaging but don't want to spend the extra bucks, I have a little utility on my site it is called iialert. It is under file galleries and then nextel files and programs. If you have a Nextel ip the little globe or diskette on the screen you can send your self links to aol messenger, yahoo, and espn. You do not have to pay for the net. Don't have the ip no problem just call cust care and tell them you need an over air programing resent to your phone. they will turn on the ip to send it. Just don't recieve the programming because it will mess up your speed dials. If the cust service rep doesn't know what you are talking about tell them the "soc code" is "pdsoarssb".

    My site is: http://www.harrythompson.com

i know that when you setup IM forwarding for a Nextel phone, it can recieve the message, but not reply. i tried the method of sending myself a text message with "my number"@messaging.nextel.com and i recieved the net alert for it and saw the message. i checked the call filter in my profile and it said that all filters were off. i tried the IM forwarding on my fathers phone (both phones are on the same account, he has an i60 by the way) and it worked successfully. I tried to instant message my phone from the AOL service on my computer, and it said the text was sent, but i never recieved it. ive called nextel and all they want to do is sign me up for premium web which wont do anything. please help me

Go to my site register then go to file galleries then nextel files & programs. Download iialert. (I tried to upload to the post but it wouldn't let me). After you download it run it. Use the drop down box in the right top corner to alert. then go to the net on your phone choose nextel.com. Then sub-id. Enter the numeric part of the sub id in the program. Now choose aol from the drop down box next to alert title. Then hit send alert. This will send you the aol alert system to log in.

i did sign up for your site, i downloaded iilert, its $14, and not that im cheap or anything, im just one of those people who doesnt give out a credit card no. over the internet...if i did get this though, it would enable me to recieve my instant messages from AOL at no extra cost? (other then the cost of a text message)

You said you were paying extra for the wireless web.. So no charge for the aol. The only thing I don't know is the alerts. Some web plans include the net alerts and some are $.10 each. If you look it up on Nextel.com or call customer care and ask if net alerts are included in your plan. Oh if you are using the net alert program then try sending this link to your phone useing the iialert program http://www.harrythompson.com/e.html same way as you sent yourself the aol link. I send it to my friends, it is fun to do. Don't ruin the suprise send it to the phone. Don't open it in your computer's browser.
