a friend of mine has the 58 and I can say that the phone is bad ass.
he was pissed and throw his phone against the wall and the wall didn't stop it went right throw it he went around to the other room it was now in and picked it up and started yelling again. at his girlfriend now thats durable try doing that with i 530 305 OR 315
He has also jumped in his pool with it. Ran over it with a truck f150.
I bet the only thing that whould get it whould be salt water

The i315 appears to be the hands down favorite.

My current phone was an i315 until the other night when I got my i860. I'd have to say that the i315 is the most durable phone I've ever owned. The i530 is probably 2nd most durable, my g/f has it and shes dropped it numerous times and it still works.

Had my i58sr fall 3 stories without the stairs... direct fall. Also tried breaking it by throwing it against a 12" thick concrete wall. NOTHING WILL DESTROY IT! Even had it immersed in water once and attended a concert in a pouring rain with it. NOTHING WILL DESTROY IT!.... except for one thing... a FlashBIOS upgrade. That definitely had an effect on it on more than one occasion. Apparently, the boys at the Big "M" still haven't found a way to get it to stop FlashSTRAPing, then freezing.

The proof is in the pudding... taken from Big "M" phasing out phone models post.

The models being phased out are the i730, i710, i530 and i205. The i860 camera phone and the i830, which includes an Internet micro-browser, will continue to be produced in Plantation. Other models that will still be made include the i325, i315, i88s, i58sr, i35s and i30sx. Several of those are considered rugged and are favored by construction companies and utilities.
