the sim card is what your current service is active on not the phone. so taking your active sim card from say an i860 and putting it into an i830 will allow that i830 to connect to the network and you using your service on it. point to it?? convienience (sp??)

So basically it just adds certain features to your phone that the phone may not have with its regular SIM?

The purpose of a SIM card is to hold information. It actually holds your contact list if you save to it, it holds the information about your carrier... web connection etc... it also has your account information. I hope this helps.
I have two SIM cards. One for my carrier here in the USA, and one for my carrier in Germany. That way I can use two different carriers so I don't have to pay high phone bills.Last edited by RobbyVT; 02-04-2005 at 03:18 PM.
