My advice to you is to get used to the text message problem with Nextel. My boyfriend has Nextel (I have Verizon) and he never gets them on time, and sometimes they're sent multiple times (like you've experienced) and they just suck regarding text messaging!!
I guess part of the reason for that could be that Nextel is more for their direct connect more than anything... and they most likely dont focus on the text messaging part as much as say, Verizon.
