    Hi all
I can not use my direct conect on my i860. I can make and get calls but I can not make or get chirps. I have checked all my settings and all are correct. It just started happening suddenly. For one second I thought I saw a message that said replace bcak up battery at a nextel service center. Is there a back up battery and if so where is it located on the phone and would that effect my chirp functions?? If anyone has a clue or any answers please respond! Thanks
I am dead in the water without my chirp!! )

there is a back up battery. If you saw a message telling you to replace it i would take it to a Service repair center.

Well i know on the i860 there is. Ive had my phone apart more than a few times and there it is, right next to the speaker. Also if you do a #,*,menu, right arrow all the way at the bottom it will say "Coin Cell".

All nextel phones, at least the falcon and condor phones, have a backup battery in them. if you for instance, get the phone wet, the message of replace the backup battery usually comes up.

Mostly likely your back housing went...that happened to me and that was the case. I noticed it when I clicked the PTT button to check the time and it wouldnt work.

Some people call the 2-way beep "chirps". Everyone has a different way of saying it. I personally say either Direct connect me, or 2-way me.
