hey all! i am new to this phone game. like customizing and all. and i really would like for someone to help me out on a problem. I currently have a T-mobile number and phone, a Samsung t309. I had a nextel i730. So i was wondering if i can unlock the i730, so i can use it with the T-mobile SIM card. If someone can help, it would be greatly appriciated.

Sniper is correct. T-Mobile is a GSM provider, Nextel is a iDEN provider.

    Re: Nextel i730

There are a couple of IDEN phones used by nextel that WILL work with tmobile, but the i730 is NOT one of them. The i920 and i930 will both accept a GSM SIM. That is because it uses both IDEN and GSM 900/1800/1900. The phones must be unlocked to work with tmobile or another GSM SIM. They would work well for Europe, but would not have GSM 850 in the US. If you were only using tmobile PAYG in the US this would be fine because they operate on only GSM 1900. Also, the walkie-talkie wouldn't work with a tmobile SIM.

the i930 wont work properly in the US with a GSM sim in it. it doesnt use 900/1800/1900. its mostly for overseas use...
