How to send messege when the phone is close?

Ok I have a i870 and everytime i send a text messege and close the phone is stops sending the messege, it dosent try to resend or nothing. This is the first motorola phone that i know that does this. Is there some setting that i could change this or something?

Go to settings and set your flip to end to off.

I herd a rumor that in Januray Nextel and Sprint are joining there towers for better services, by them doing this it will improve the text messeging that Nextel have. that way you could close your phone and still send messeges. Also do anyone know if there are going to any new phones for nextel with better Iden software for the coming 2007 year?
