You shouldn't have any troubles using the USB Cable. A few questions though:
1) Are you using Windows Media Center Edition or Windows XP? WebJAL doesn't work with Media Center versions.
2) Make sure all your Java applications on your phone are closed. If you have any suspended applications, your phone will not read.
3) Have you installed the WebJAL patcher?
If you've done everything correctly then it should work. If it's still not working then goto CONTROL PANEL -> PHONE AND MODEM OPTIONS -> Remove all the Motorola USB
iDEN Modem drivers then disconnect your phone from the USB Cable and plug it back in. Do the auto-install once windows detects the USB device and reinstall the USB Drivers once.
Try to connect to your phone again. If it still doesn't work, try removing the patch and uninstall WebJAL and start from scratch. Don't forget to remove the
iden modem drivers again. Good luck.
