NEXTEL Cancel contract not possible?!?!?!

Hey I've had my nextel for over a year now and have blackberry service and 7100i.... make long story short I got way over charged for text messaging etc.... so tonight I called so cancel my account/contract they told me it will cancel at the end of the billing cycle (JANUARY 12!)... the last bill will include the months service and the ETF which I am willing to pay I DONT CARE!... but I WANT to cancel the account/contract TONIGHT and pay the cycle's worth of usage and the ETF in one shot! they wont let me!!!!!

Anyone had different experience canceling their contract? The REP made it real clear that it is not physically possible to cancel the contract mid-cycle.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Yes,
I had a similar problem...I would do anything to get out from under Nextel.
If you cancel mid month (IE: lost phone), the old phone will be a brick.
In the end with Nextel, I paid $600 to get out, gladly.

This is exactly why i'm planning to get out of sprint/nextel. Their service just sucks. They charged me to random things on my last bill. Still disputing it...errrr
