i880 Silver Download Apps problem..

Hey all,

I bought a Silver (I guess mexican?) i880 off of ebay some time ago, and used my current sim card to use the phone. All works well except the Java Apps. For instance: When I try to go download the Java IM from the Download Apps program, it gives me an error saying "There are no free applications available for this handset". However, I have another i880 that's brownish from the US and it works perfectly fine. I've tried upgrading the firmware on the phone and even chose the "Version" of the phone to be maroon and still nothing.. It doesnt install the default Apps I should have and wont download any free ones. I was wondering if there was any way to fix this besides swapping the internals of the two phones?

when you upgraded the firmware..did you also try to upgrade it with the java apps? or without?.
If your answer is WITH java apps, did it upgrade successfully?

I upgraded it with the Java apps I didnt see a "without" option. I tried selecting that I had a maroon and then tried a mexican silver one, and tried reinstalling (Delete and reinstall) the download apps program aswell. Nothing has worked yet.

I've never heard of this problem before..maybe those ebay guys sold the phone for a reason. How much did you pay?
This silver i880 just came out and if ebay seller didnt provide warranty, you still have a warranty by motorola, I'd talk to the ebay seller and if nothing works out..I'd call motorola.

Sounds like a code plug mod is in order.
Do a google search, there are many sites that offer code plug mods. Some are free.
