The battery life of smartphones is affected by plenty of factors, but if you follow the easy steps of this tutorial, you’ll be able to get the most out of your Nokia Lumia 920 and have an increased battery life.

Lower the screen brightness and backlight timeout:

    1. From the Start screen, go to Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and select Brightness.
    4. The brightness setting is set by default to Automatically adjust. Tap the setting to disable it and then select the lower most comfortable level of brightness.

    Adjust the screen timeout settings:

    1. From the Start screen, go to Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Touch Lock screen.
    4. Go to and select Screen times out after and choose the time out period that you feel most comfortable with.

Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections when you’re not using them

To disable Wi-Fi: from the Start screen, swipe left -> tap Settings -> Wi-Fi -> make sure the connection is turned OFF.

Note: You should disable the Wi-Fi connection when you’re not actively using it, but keep the Wi-Fi ON whenever you have an Wi-Fi connection available. Wi-Fi is a faster and lower power connection that even allows you to place phone calls while browsing the internet.

To disable Bluetooth: from the Start screen, swipe left -> tap Settings -> Bluetooth -> make sure the connection is turned OFF.

Set the synchronization settings to a minimum

    1. From the Start screen, go to Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Now go to Email + accounts.
    4. Select the account that you want to synchronize less. Keep in mind that synchronization settings may or may not be available, depending on what type of account you have.
    5. Make the desired Content to sync settings.
    6. Adjust the Download new content field as desired.

You also have a battery saver option. Using it, will help you conserve the battery life.

    1. From the Start screen, go to Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap Battery saver.
    4. Tap Battery saver again to enable the setting.
    5. Next you have to tap Advanced. This will allow you to make the following settings:

Always turn on Battery saver when battery is low.
Turn on Battery Saver now, until next charge.
    • Always (not recommended)

Congratulations! You’ve made the most important steps to have an increased battery life. In case you have any other tips and tricks that help you maximize the life of your battery, feel free to share them with us.
