WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will return it to factory settings. It will also delete all personal data stored on the phone's internal memory, including photos, apps, contacts, ringtones etc. Content stored on the SIM or SD card will not be affected.

Master Resetting from the Settings Menu:

  1. While viewing the Start screen, slide left
  2. Scroll to and tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "About" > "Reset your phone"
  4. Read the warning message about losing data, and tap "Yes" if you're ready to master reset
  5. Tap "Yes" again to confirm

Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: Use this method of master reset in case your smartphone is unresponsive, it freezes, crashes or is otherwise preventing you from applying the factory reset from the settings menu, as detailed above. To master reset using hardware keys:

  1. Turn off your smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Down" button
  3. With the volume key pressed, press "Power" to turn the phone on
  4. When the phone vibrates, release the "Power" key but keep holding the "Volume Down" button
  5. At the exclamation mark, release "Volume Down"
  6. Press the following key sequence in order: (NOTE: Nothing will change on the screen while you enter this combination of keys, so pay attention to the key presses)
    • "Volume Up"
    • "Volume Down"
    • "Power"
    • "Volume Down"
  7. Your smartphone will now reset. During the process, two gears will rotate on the display for about 20 seconds. Then, the display will go black for about 30 seconds. Be patient and your smartphone will reset and reboot
