Tips & Tricks to Manage RAM Usage:
- Restart your phone regularly. Press and hold "Power", and slide the screen down
- Keep your apps updated
- Uninstall unused third party apps
- Clear recent applications
- Clear app cache / data
- Keep an eye on, and monitor your newly installed applications
Internal and SD Card Storage Management
Check the Amount of Free Storage Space:
- While on the Start screen, swipe down from the top
- Tap "All settings"
- Scroll down to and select "storage sense"
- Tap "Phone" or "SD Card"
- View the available values
Change the Default Storage Location:
- Swipe down from the Start screen
- Go to "All settings"
- Scroll to and tap "storage sense"
- Tap to change the default storage location from "phone" to "SD card" or the other way around
Insert / Remove SD Card:
- Put your index finger in the seam between the back cover and the screen frame at the top corner of the phone
- Press the middle of the back cover to bend it open and remove it (as seen in the image below)
- Remove the battery
- Fit the microSD card into its slot and then refit the battery and back cover
Format the SD Card:
WARNING! Formatting the SD card will result in the deletion of all data stored on it.
- On the Start screen, swipe left
- Go to "Settings"
- Tap "storage sense" > "SD card"
- Swipe to and tap "format SD card"
- Press "Yes" to confirm
Transfer Files between the Lumia 640 and a PC or Mac:
- To transfer files between your Lumia 640 and your computer, first connect the smartphone to your PC
- If you use a Mac, visit this link to download the "Windows Phone app for Mac"
- If you use a Windows PC, download the "Windows Phone app for desktop"
- Install the app, open it, and follow the self-explanatory steps to transfer your data
