Back Up Settings:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left
  2. Scroll to and tap “Settings
  3. Tap “backup” > “app list + settings
  4. Tap “Settings backup” to enable the feature
  5. Sign in to your Microsoft account if necessary
  6. Tap “back up now” > “continue

NOTE: the backup process can take several minutes to complete

Back Up Applications:

  1. Swipe the Start screen left and tap “Settings
  2. Tap “backup” > “app list + settings
  3. Enable the “App backup” switch
  4. If necessary, login with your Microsoft account
  5. Tap “back up now” > “continue

Back Up Text Messages:

  1. Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to and tap “backup
  3. Tap “text messages
  4. Tap the “Text message backup” switch to enable the feature

Back Up Photos and Videos:

  1. From the “Settings” menu, swipe to and tap “backup
  2. Tap “photos + videos
  3. Choose the desired setting to upload your media files to OneDrive:
    • For Photos you can choose:
      • Good quality (may use data plan)
      • Best quality (needs Wi-Fi)"
      • Don’t upload
    • For videos you can select:
      • Best quality
      • Don’t upload

Restore Applications, Data, and Settings:

  1. After backing up your data, reboot your phone
  2. Connect to a Wi-Fi network
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts
  4. At the “Restore phone” pop-up, ensure that “Windows Phone” is selected
  5. Tap “Next
  6. Wait for the phone to restore the data. Once the percentage shows 100%, tap “Next
  7. From the “Almost done…” screen, tap “Next
  8. Optionally, enable “Nokia Improvement Program” and tap “Next
  9. Your data should now be fully restored
