Nokia 3310 message feature help

Can anyone help me? I am pretty new to the GSM phone use and was wondering...After sending a message using SMS, I get a reply message saying the message is "Pending". Does this mean that it was not delivered, not opened, blocked or what? Do I need to resend it or what do I do next?
