Micro SD and formatting

Hi all,
I just bought a micro Sd card for my new 6315i. I use Verizon btw. When I put the card in the phone it recognizes it with no problem. My question is this: When I put it in my computer (using the adapter), my computer gives me the following message, "drive is not formatted. would you like to formay it it now?" If I did format the card and then put it back in my phone, would the phone recognize it? Would I be able to use the card with no problem?

Never mind everyone. When I used a different card reader, I did not get that "do you want to format?" message but got the regular folders.
