I came across Nokia Universal Codes

Here are some of them. i've not tried any yet cuz i dont wanna screw around with my n80 if anyone decides to try them. i'd like to know if they work than i can try em myself. basically i'm asking who wants to use their phone as a test subject

Nokia Phone Codes:

01) *3370# Activate Enhanced Full Rate Codec (EFR) - Your phone uses the best sound
quality but talk time is reduced my approx. 5%

02) #3370# Deactivate Enhanced Full Rate Codec (EFR) OR *3370# ( Favourite )

03) *#4720# Activate Half Rate Codec - Your phone uses a lower quality sound but you
should gain approx 30% more Talk Time.

04) *#4720# Deactivate Half Rate Codec.

05) *#0000# Displays your phones software version, 1st Line : Software Version, 2nd
Line : Software Release Date, 3rd Line : Compression Type. ( Favourite )

06) *#9999# Phones software version if *#0000# does not work.

07) *#06# For checking the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI Number). (
Favourite )

08) #pw+1234567890+1# Provider Lock Status. (use the "*" button to obtain the "p,w"
and "+" symbols).

09) #pw+1234567890+2# Network Lock Status. (use the "*" button to obtain the "p,w"
and "+" symbols).

number 8 and 9 don't work on my n73

this maybe a stupid question but is your n73 locked or an unlocked phone?

if its unlocked thats why 8 & 9 probably don't work for you because there are no provider or network locks on unlocked phones as far as i know.

hi...maybe a stupid question, but how do you use these? Do you just type them in? Do you need to push the call button?

Only #5, 6, and 7 worked for me... and I tried them all... no you don't need to push the call button, it's supposed to activate when you push the last pound button...

These are interesting. I wonder how old of a Nokia will these work on. I only ask because I used to have a Nokia 5700.

most of this code will work on old nokia 3390 but don't try to enter the #8 and #9 you are entering a wrong unlocking code to your phone. remember you only have 5 chances, buy entering the #8 and #9 you are losing your 2 chances. anyway n80 cannot unlocked thru code.
