My wife got a new nokia 6126 and the very next day she dropped it in the sink, I took the battery and sim card out and dried it out for about for about 1 week and then put it back together and everything works, camera, screen etc. but I get no signal from provider (at&t) does anyone have any ideas if this can be fixed?
thanks

Re: I have a wet nokia!!!
It can be, but it will probably be more expensive than getting a new one.
You can send your phone to a Nokia repair center, which they will give you a quote and give you an option to repair it (at a $) or ship it back.
My suggestion is looking to ebay or craigslist for a good used one.

Re: I have a wet nokia!!!
it seems like your phone is fine, the sim card tho.. might not be alright. metal can be wet while its off, drying it doesnt really change metal. but sim cards i think are made out of like.. plastic, or something that can be effected by water.
if you drop your phone often, i would suggest you get some kind of case to protect it from scratches, 600 dollars is alot of money to be droped without protection

Re: I have a wet nokia!!!
Sim Cards cannot be effected by water as there are no electronic parts on a sim card. I've washed my sim card in my jeans and put it in my phone with no problems. If the phone isn't working it's likely due to a phone problem.

Re: I have a wet nokia!!!
If you still intend on using your 6126 that was water damaged, try the ff steps.
Take phone apart -> rinse PCB board in cold distilled water -> let it dry with either using a hairdryer, in an oven at low temperature, or on top of a tv or PC monitor vent -> leave it to dry for at least a week.
There are other guides to water damaged phones on the net. Just use a search engine to find them.Favorite Quote:

Re: I have a wet nokia!!!
I use to be a cell tech and I had to repair alot of water damaged phones, usually if it is dropped in something that can create a film on the board , like soda, beer, dish water with soap, the best bet is to rinse the device, and use a hairdryer, make sure the batter is removed first, repeat this step at least several times to make sure any residue is removed, one time is not good enough in most cases, basically you want to rinse away the bad product that is on the device, that works about 1 in 5 times in my years of experience

most nokia phones can work again if you dry it for a month or two.

Don't drop your cellphone in salt water though. My friend did that last summer and well... let's just say it died.
