antenna boosters

do those things really work. i was thinking about putting it on the antenna itself instead of underneath the battery. i have a 7210 and it gets horrible reception and sometimes it doesn't even ring or leave voicemail alerts(which obviously i need because if it doesn't ring i missed calls)

If they are giving them away for free they are probably worthless

I'm a cell phone technician, and these thing are nothing more than scotch tape with some silicon or foil attached. They do not help reception, in fact, they can hinder reception. The FTC is pursuing the manufactures of these "antennas" for fraudulent advertising.

Call it a coincidence but on my 8260 when I was in school I gained an extra bar inside with the booster. Could have just been a fluke I guess.

Yes I am serious. I've read several articles, seen the tests, and even saw CNN run a report.

If they really worked, then why don't cell phone companies or the phone manufacturers sell them?

If you have a phone that operates at 1900mhz, then you might as well get rid of it. Most of today's phones primarily operate at this frequency and the antenna can cause reception problems by creating a small barrier between your phone and the tower. Basically, if your service provider uses CDMA or GSM, then the antenna is less than worthless.
