No. It can be only used with the sim card.
Well take a look at the new 7700. Now, that can be used without SIM card. www.nokia.com

The sound quality is good enough for an mp3 player.

My friend owns one and it is nice, but i think it doesnot have bluetooth and all.

So you would be better off getting the 6600[yes it has been launched] which is also an mp3 player+ 3650+65536 colour screen. or..... you could wait for 7700
What you lookin' here for ehhh?

IMHO it's really a great phone accept for some minor bugs/lack of features:

    - You cannot upload wallpaper directly to the phone (via the given USB cable); you have to download it through WAP/GPRS.

    - Might reboot if use incompatible MIDI files, thus if u selected the file as your ringtone, then your phone will reboot when someone calls u.

    - You have to insert the SIM card in order to use the phone.

    - The MMC is located under the battery so u have to take out the battery (sometimes losing the settings) if u want to change the MMC.

    - No normal headphone jack (for output to Hifi, etc.)

    The good part:

    - Massive 4M internal memory - can have quite a number of games in the phone (mine got over 40 JAVA games)

    - Audio quality is clear (through the given headset)

    - Can use MIDI and MP3 files as ringtones

    - Battery life is not bad

    - And much more......

What is a "wrong" kind of MIDI file. That doesn't make sense.

Yes, i know it doesn't make sense. I came to such conclusion with trials and errors.
The mid files u use might work fine ( i.e. play nicely when u try them on the phone ) but some mid files ( possible: files too large, unsupported instrument, etc ) do reboot the phone. For example: i set a ringtone for group of caller, and when they call, the phone just reboot ( it just turned off and turned back on by itself w/o going through the introductory nokia screen ); no missed call message, etc; as if nothing has happened.

    Ok....

I am guessing you guys got the ORIGINAL 3300 released by AT&T wireless.
well i got mine from cingular of course it is an updated version that was
re-released 11/04 so mine doesnt do any of those things you guys have
mentioned. i havent encountered any glitches. the updated version has AIM
and of course you can always get bigger MMC cards. Biggest i found is 1GB.
the site to find that is (www.pixel-flash.com) only problem is that it is a UK
company so for those of you who dont live in that continent, you gotta get it
    shipped air-mail. I LOVE MY NOKIA 3300
