Use Palm on Verizon Family Plan

I need to have a phone that I can sync to my Vista Home Premium (32 bit) home computer. I have a family plan with Verizon. Can I buy a phone that will sync with my computer on Verizon, but without getting a data plan? What phone?

Re: Use Palm on Verizon Family Plan

Any smartphone you buy from VZW requires a data plan, which eliminates every Palm, Blackberry, and/or Windows Mobile device. Maybe there are some good non-smartphones that sync well with Vista, but someone else would have to chime in on that part. I use only Blackberry devices.

I have been trying to find out myself and from what I understand the Treo will do what you want. Now will all the treo's work? will the Centro work? I have talked to verizon and it's hard to get a straight answer from them since they all want to sell me a blackberry which I have and don't use because of the cost.

Re: Use Palm on Verizon Family Plan

Hi,

You know, I don't think any of those phone will sync. But I have since found out that with most of the phones these days you can attach them to a USB cable. Attach the other end of the USB cable to your computer. Using software that is usually available for free from the phone manufacturer, I think you can at least copy what is on the phone (such as numbers, etc.)

Thanks. I think with any phone one can attach a USB cable to the phone and the other end to the computer. With software that is usually available for free from the phone manufacturer, I think you can make a copy of data on the phone, such as numbers addresses, etc.

Centro requires data plan.
Centro will sync with Outlook, memos, media, etc.
I'm not sure about the Vista issue

Re: Use Palm on Verizon Family Plan

Thanks for the information I had a feeling the Centro wouldn't work. Now I just need to figure out what model of Treo will be the best.
