whatever you do with updating you gd87, never, never ever take out your battery while doing anything with it - even if the display shows strange messages (invalid command).

If you take out your battery while its flashing, it will make the EEprom unusable.

I learned from experience.

And to add to that never unplug it while flashing either you will not be able to continue where you left off. You will just have a dead phone!
