Reminds me of the many occasions during 'The Bill' that you see people
using dummy phones, and that they always put the wrong style of 'beep'
on, e.g. using a motorola phone but having the nokia beep sound effect.

I'm sure someone has made or will make such a product - however, you will
need to pay full price for it yourself - don't expect any networks to run
over and subsidise the price for you!

Manufacturer's _need_ network support to gain market share - if there were
no network subsidies on handsets, then handsets would be developed and sell
on basis of features that end users want, rather than the features that
    networks demand...!

I find they are just another method for loudmouth assholes to make
themselves even more of a nuisance. Rather than subjecting
everyone in the room to half of a conversation, they can subject
everyone in the room to BOTH sides of a conversation. Christ,
can't they put a volume control on those things?

I couldn't agree more. They have a purpose, but using it as a replacement
for the phone in public is definately not one of the more mannerly ones.
