Hi all. Just commissioning my new V525. Exciting, or what. (What.)

Having charged the battery, I've taken the SIM card from my old Motorola
Timeport 260 and inserted into my new V525.

Switching it on, I get the display "Check SIM" and, if I press anything, the
    display "Emergency calls only".

And it's true. Can't do anything.

Out comes the SIM, back into the old 260; works fine.

Back into the V525; "Check SIM" again.

    (Repeat ad infinitum.)

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Is the new V525 unlocked? maybe that could be the issue.

specifics of the SIM (what operator) and the old and new phones?

    isn't the V525 a voda-branded V500?

Maybe the SIM is not seated securely. Does the card holder click into
    place?
