Why not download an MP3 player on the 6600. F.e. UltraMP3 works fine.

MP3 players don't play video files though, or does this program do
    that ?

Convert video and audio into 3GPP and AMR formats with the Nokia
Multimedia Converter (you need to request a serial number).
You also need to install the Java 2 platform to install the Nokia
Multimedia Converter, you can download it here (download: J2SE v
    1.4.2_xx, JRE).

The above statement links with the software.

Since when are MPEG or WMV audio? theyv video, hence the 3gpp files .. he
even mentioned that it converted the video ok, but not the acompanying audio
    ...

I believe the nokia Multimedia Converter can do videos <-> 3gpp .. available
    from forum.nokia.com

The sound needs to be in a particular format. Having picked 3GPP
and selected a video format, switch to the 'Audio' tab and select
    AMR-NB at a low rate. I think 7.4kbps works. Once you've found
a rate which works you can experiment upwards to find the best
    quality your phone can handle.

Actually, there's an even easier way to find an acceptable format.
Take a video on your phone, send it to your computer and open it.
You should be able to use the 'Properties' window to find out the
formats used for that movie. And you know it works because it
    came from the phone.

I've used QuickTime Pro on my Macintosh to do translation between
the phone and the Mac and it works fine.

Don't like Nokia Multimedia Converter huh...

Another way around is to convert your video to the .RM format, these
will play with RealOne installed on your phone.
    http://www.realnetworks.com/products/producer/

Fact is all the videos I have on my phone - grabbed from the Internet
    - are in the .RM format.

This is a bug which occurs when you're converting out of certain
formats, usually some types of MPEG. If you convert to a plain
QuickTime movie and then open /that/ movie then you'll find that
    the option springs to life.

mpegs and WMV files are muxed tracks. When you do the export it will
only export the video. You need to demux the audio & video seprate.
open the video and paste the audio using quicktime. I have Ocean's
Eleven on my 3650 and it works great. Nokia 3650, 512m, 44.100k WAV
    ringtones.
