Nicki - I should have added one more comment to this last post. Here's a
hint with regards to referencing your manual via Acrobat. Click on the
binocular icon in the tool bar. It's a search function, where you can type
any word in, and it will show all the places where that word is used.

I looked in the dictionary instead of the index...sorry...

I printed out the 313 page manual and I am reading it...the last
    question Bob..really

How do I find the music melodies on here..I can find tones but I don't
see where the music that answers your phone is kept. I looked under
ringer and it talks about downloading and types but not where to find
    the ones already here

It means modifying a phone number by adding digits to the FRONT of the
    number.

And while we're at it, what does "dictionary" mean?

    I tried Webster's New World Pocket Dictionary..1977

I guess that was the pre- prepend days

Everyone has been super informative and nice. I should use an updated
dictionary but this one is small and fits in the desk drawer. I'm new
to the Sprint newsgroup and it is an interesting read for sure.

On my phone, if you have a local 7 digit number in your Call
History, Scratch Pad, or Internal Phone Book, and travel out of your
area code, then you can prepend the area code to the number before
dialing. It is on a per call basis.

specifically, prepending something to a phone number means inserting it before
    the phone number.

Oh, that reminds me of another tip for Nicki. Always enter all numbers
into your phone book with all 10-digits. Never enter a 7-digit number
    into your phonebook.

The 10-digit numbers will always get you to the right place no matter
where on SPCS's network you travel. Dial a 7-digit number when you're
many miles from home and I have no idea whether it'll use the area code
of your phone's number or of where you're standing.

As for musical ringers, I'm not sure about your specific
phone, but on the menu under settings/sounds there will be some ringer
choices. However, most phones come with a set that is limited to about
a half dozen. For more, you'll have to go on-line to retrieve them.
There are many ringers that require you to pay, some are free. It's a
bit complicated, so your best bet may be to check the archives for
    this news group.

You have free Vision for two months, so you should take
advantage of that and see if it benefits you. In any event you can
grab a few new ringers before giving it up, if that's your choice.

I can't find any of those song type of things... under settings-sounds
....it has ringer types and volume...but not a list of songs you can
play or change. As far as I can find it has 4 tones...and I doubt
    that is right...

I am reading page 39 in my manual but it isn't very clear...I guess it
is called preprogrammed ringers but I can't find them
