How to restore iPhone 4 without compulsory ISo update

I have forgotten my code so I am forced to restore my iphone4 however the Internet here is very weak and the iso6 takes too long and times out. Does anyone know how to restore to factory settings without having to update the software on the phone?

did you try doing it through itunes?

iTunes version 11 or higher:

Connect the iPhone to the computer via USB cable.
Open the iTunes application on the computer.
Click iPhone (located in the upper-right).
Click Restore iPhone.
Review the iTunes alert message then click Restore.
Click Next.
Review the software license agreement then click Agree.
The restoration process may take several minutes.
Once the restoration process is complete click OK.
