    Hi,

I recently replaced my old Nokia with the Samsung m500. And, so far, I've been pleased with it (it's a big step up from what it replaced). However, I seem to have an issue with the phone in that it will not remember settings for using the video ringer as the ringtone once the power is cycled. This seems to affect both videos taken with the phone, as well as the music ringtone "workaround". It works fine once it's set into the phone, but, once it is shut off and turned on again, it defaults back to one of the built in tones (until I set it again).

Anyways, I was wondering if this is a problem with my phone, or it's one of Bell's restrictions. Any info any of you could give me would be appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

That'd be appreciated if you could check...I just have a bad feeling that it's an intentional thing though.....would make the most sense too! Ha ha ha!

Re: Samsung m500 and the Video Ringer

    Hi there,

I have a m500 too that I got recently. It's been a long, hard road for me to find a way get a custom ringtone onto the phone through the data cable. I actually found this thread while Googling in vain for the answer. So I've figured out that I needed to convert mp3 to 3g2 and then set it to video ringer. So after that was done, I noticed the same problem as you TheSupernova. Since after a powercycle, I noticed that it played my tune set for Without Caller ID, I figured that both must be set to Video Ringer. So I did that and what do you know, it works!

So the conclusion is that for Video Ringer to save after a powercyle, you must have both With and Without Caller ID set to video ringer. I signed up for these forums just to tell you and everyone this little tidbit because I know it was really annoying for me and this problem hasn't come up anywhere else when Googling.

    Hope that helps!
