The rumor is that Amazon is working on a cell phone release for later this year. What operating system do you think it will have? What carriers do you think will release it? I would be interested in seeing it when it comes out.

That would be interesting to see. I bet it will have an upgrade of the current Kindle OS if and when it comes out. I would think that they would release it with Verizon since they are the provider of choice for a bulk of the market.

Re: Amazon making a phone
If they do come out with a phone, it will probably run on Android's operating system, but a restricted version of it, like the Kindle Fire. I have used the Kindle Fire, and I don't like it. You can't download all of the applications that are available on Google Play, because it doesn't even come with Google Play. You need to use Amazon's App Store.
I think it's good to have a decent selection, so it will be nice to have another phone available for those that might like having an Amazon phone, but if it is locked down like the Kindle Fire, I'm not interested in it.
Is anyone else interested in seeing Amazon come out with a phone? What do you think they need to include in their phone to make it be competitive with all of the Android phones available?
