I have 32K 62095 SIM card in my MPX220 Cingular phone. I have nationwide plan. I am going to Alaska where GSM coverage is virtually non-existant. I thought about getting an inexpensive GAIT phone off ebay just for my trip, but will my SIM card give me GAIT coverage or do I need to do something extra?

Thanks that's good to know, I appreciate the info. I'm actually going salmon fishing way in the middle of no-where (not Anchorage) where no-one has GSm towers and it's all old technology (CDMA?) so that's why I wondered about the SIM card.

You can get GAIT....you have to have CS provision a code on your account for it. I have seen different variations....from GAIT Calling Area to GSM/TDMA Interoperability. Although some say it works, some say it doesn't...I have yet to see my 6340i GAIT phone fall back to TDMA or AMPS.

Huh? They haven't had GAIT plans in a while now....so you would be unable to switch to one of these.
