While the HTC One is a pretty awesome device, there's no denial that a handful of other smartphone manufacturers have recently unveiled slightly more powerful devices. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is on its way, the LG G2 has already hit the market, a new iPhone line-up sits on the shelves, and Google is getting ready to launch the Nexus 5. These are just a few of the brand new handsets that have been either already launched, or are on their way to hit the market. That being said, if HTC wants to continue participating in the fight for supremacy, the Taiwanese manufacturer needs to push a new handset on the market. We've kept receiving bits of information concerning the rumored One Max, but interestingly enough, HTC might have a new HTC One in the works as well.

According to a recently leaked screenshot (seen above), HTC may plan on launching a HTC One refresh. The device seems to pack 3 GB of RAM instead of 2 GB, and an octa-core processor instead of a quad-core unit. While we're not sure what type of CPU this may be, it's most likely not going to be a Samsung Exynos. Another alternative would be MediaTek's true octa-core CPU which has been built on the ARM Cortex-A7 architecture, but that particular unit has already been surpassed in terms of performance by the Snapdragon 600 processor (which powers the current HTC One). In other words, it's a bit of a mystery.

Aside from these rumored hardware updates, the refreshed HTC One will allegedly pack Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which is thinner, lighter and tougher than Glass 2.

It all sounds very interesting, but fact of the matter is, we can't be sure of anything at this point. Screenshots can be faked, and since this rumor is in its very early stages, we can't really confirm anything. Take the information with a pinch of salt and hope for the best.
