Does anyone know if the 4g phones that can run netflix, that also have hdmi outputs, are capable of transfering the movie being stream through the application to a tv?

Sorry if I posted this on the wrong section btw

Yep - you can do this with the LG Revolution or Samsung Droid Charge. The Motorola Droid Bionic will also be able to do this when it is released.

IMO the LG Revolution is the better buy. (cheaper for very similar features) Check out my reviews of the Samsung Droid Charge and LG Revolution.

    ^thx again

I just wanted to make sure that the hdmi output was a true output. Like when you connect your tv to your cpu tower and it works like your monitor.

So by what your saying the hdmi output makes you tv work like a second screen for your smartphone exept for the touch screen portion right?

Also is sound transmitted as well?

I'll look for your review of the devices.

Actually I'm sorry to get your hopes up, but I believe I'm wrong - I just looked at the manual for the LG Revolution. This is what it says:
HDMI Port Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI Port on your phone to an HDMI Port on your TV. You can only view user generated content, which includes your photos and videos.
The manual for the Samsung Droid Charge doesn't say anything about DRM protection or user generated content. So I'm not sure on this one, but I'm going to say no.

The manual for the Motorola Droid Bionic says:

    Mirror mode
Connect your smartphone to your TV, monitor, or projector so you can view and interact with your
smartphone on the big screen. Show off your photos, videos, and downloaded movies. Enjoy the big screen for gaming, movies, the web, and more. Just attach an HDMI cable (sold separately) to your smartphone and plug it into your big screen.
Note: You cannot play DRM-protected files in mirror mode.
After I think about it, this is probably one of the big reasons Netflix took so long to come out on more phones. They wanted to make sure that things could not easily be copied via various methods. Some of the early iterations of the software that was seen at electronic shows allowed the output.
