Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Turn on Battery saver
Lower Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Display under Device
- If necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Tap Brightness level and drag the slider towards the left to decrease brightness
- Go back to Display and tap Sleep
- Select a lower timeout value, like 15 seconds
Disable Connectivity When Not In Use:
NOTE: By turning off connectivity when not in use (such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth), you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the tiles associated with Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi to turn off the features
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Tap Location for more GPS options, then tap Mode and select Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under "Wireless & Networks
- Tap the switch to disable Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont actively use them. This is due to the fact that some apps perform regular background processes, so by disabling / uninstalling unused apps you could improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Go to the Downloaded tab and select the desired application
- Tap Disable / Force stop to turn off the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts
- Select an account
- Clear the check boxes next to the sync options you want to turn off
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Select to use 2G
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep your OS up to date. To check for OS updates:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to System and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and follow the on-screen steps to download and apply an update (if available)
