Had to warranty my phone. I'm looking to purchase a new one but don't like the choices at WalMart. My phone is a Nokia Lumia 520 T-Mobile Family Talk (not prepaid) Windows. What do I have to know to purchase a phone that I can just transfer my existing sim card to? There is a 521 at WalMart like mine but it's prepaid. Will the prepaid work in my case where I'm billed monthly with no contract? I'm thinking it won't. So if I'm looking to go with a different phone brand and operating system but stay with Family Talk T-Mobile what are my options? Forgive me for not being up to speed on these things...

    Kind Regards, Steve

It can either be a phone for t-mobile or an unlocked GSM phone.

Re: Buying Replacement Phone, What phones Are Compatable With T-Mobile Family Talk?

I ended up with an unlocked Nokia Lumia 820 but didn't realize it would have the original carrier's apps etc on it. How do I get all the Att stuff off? Or does it matter?
Also, when I go to settings and try to access display/touch, advanced settings and a couple others they won't open up. Any explanation for this?
Also, my previous phone was the Lumia 521. My signal strength was ok on that phone but why is this new phone signal almost always non existent? As in zero network connection? This 820 is a better phone, why a worse connection? What can I do to improve this besides the wi-fi? The carrier is T-Mobile and was the carrier for the old phone as well.
