Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesn’t work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will remove all personal information stored within the app, including profiles, credit card and login information, saved games, apps, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  4. Swipe to “All”
  5. Select the desired application and tap “Clear cache”
  6. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (Read WARNING above)

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone is unresponsive, runs out of storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can yield similar results as a factory reset without losing any of your personal data stored on the phone.

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. When the three Androids appear on the screen, release the buttons
  4. In the “HBOOT” menu, press “Volume down” to highlight “Recovery”
  5. Press “Power” to enter recovery
  6. In Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  7. Press “Power”
  8. Once the cache is wiped, reboot your phone

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help and you want to factory reset the device instead, you can visit this thread for instructions.

Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application on your device that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Wake the screen up and unlock your phone if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” while viewing the home screen
  3. From the “Phone options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. When prompted to “Reboot to safe mode”, tap “Restart” to confirm
  5. Wait for the phone to restart and a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the home screen
  6. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  7. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  8. Swipe to “Downloaded”
  9. Select the desired app, and tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
  10. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and then tap “Restart”
