Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your third party applications doesnt work as intended, it crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will remove all personal information stored within the app, including profiles, credit card and login information, saved games, apps, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to All
- Select the desired application and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (Read WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone is unresponsive, runs out of storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can yield similar results as a factory reset without losing any of your personal data stored on the phone.
- Turn off the device
- Press and hold Volume Down and Power at the same time
- When the three Androids appear on the screen, release the buttons
- In the HBOOT menu, press Volume down to highlight Recovery
- Press Power to enter recovery
- In Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once the cache is wiped, reboot your phone
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help and you want to factory reset the device instead, you can visit this thread for instructions.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application on your device that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- Wake the screen up and unlock your phone if necessary
- Press and hold Power while viewing the home screen
- From the Phone options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode, tap Restart to confirm
- Wait for the phone to restart and a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower-left corner of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired app, and tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and then tap Restart
