Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications isn't working as intended, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the application's cache or data. Clearing the app's cache will not remove personal information stored within the app, and you might be able to fix the problems by doing so. WARNING! Clearing the app's data will remove all the personal info stored within the app, including credit card and login information, settings, high scores, profiles etc. Clear the data if clearing the cache fails.

  1. Press "Apps" while viewing the home screen
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Phone" and tap "Apps"
  4. Access the "All" tab
  5. Select the desire application
  6. Tap "Clear cache"
  7. If necessary, tap "Clear data" > "OK"

Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your smartphone is acting up and you're considering master resetting it, then you should know that wiping a phone's cache partition can solve a good number of issues without having to factory reset and lose any personal data stored on the internal memory. To wipe the HTC Desire EYE's cache partition:

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Volume Down" button
  3. Press and release the "Power" key to turn on the device
  4. Keep holding "Volume Down" until three Android images appear in the lower area of the screen
  5. From the "HBOOT" menu, press "Volume Down" to move the highlight from "FASTBOOT" to RECOVERY"
  6. Press "Power" to select the highlighted option. Your phone should now display a red triangle and exclamation mark
  7. Press "Volume Up" and "Power" at the same time
  8. From the recovery menu, press "Volume Down" to navigate to and highlight "Wipe cache partition"
  9. Press the "Power" button to start the cache wipe
  10. Wait until the phone displays the "Cache wipe complete" message
  11. At this point, select "Reboot system now" and press "Power" to restart your phone

Entering Safe Mode and Uninstalling Malicious Apps:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party application on your phone that causes issues but prevents you from uninstalling it, you can reboot your phone in safe mode and remove the app from there. In safe mode, all third party applications are disabled.

  1. To start entering safe mode, press and hold the "Power" button while your phone is turned on
  2. From the pop-up message on the screen, tap and hold "Power off"
  3. At the "Reboot to safe mode" prompt, tap "Restart"
  4. Once your phone restarts, it should inform you that it runs in Safe Mode
  5. To remove an app from here, tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
  6. Swipe to "Phone" and tap "Apps"
  7. Go to the "Downloaded" screen and select the app you wish to remove
  8. Tap "Uninstall" > "OK"
