Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage, you might be able to fix it by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data you will remove all of your personal data stored within the app, including credit card and login information, profiles, high scores, saved games etc. As such, you should first try fixing the app by clearing its cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and access the All tab
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read Warning above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the phones cache partition.
- First, turn off the phone
- Press and hold Volume Down
- Press Power and release the button when the phone vibrates
- From the hTC download mode menu, press Volume down repeatedly to highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Press Volume down to highlight Boot to recovery mode and press Power
- At the red exclamation mark, press & hold Power, then press and release Volume up
- In the Android system Recovery menu, press Volume down to highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache partition is cleared, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread to learn how you can factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and you are unable to remove it from the phone, you should be able to easily uninstall the app by first rebooting your device in safe mode.
- If necessary, wake up the screen
- Press and hold Power
- From the Power options window, tap & hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode, tap Restart
- After the phone restarts, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left area of the screen
- To remove an app, first access Settings and scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and swipe to Downloaded
- Select the desired application and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, press & hold Power, then tap Restart
