Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your third party applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the application’s cache and data.

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will delete all of your personal information stored within the app. This includes profiles, save files, high scores, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing data, try fixing the app by clearing only its cache.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  4. Access the “All” tab
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
  6. If the issues remain, you can also tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an Application:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues on your device and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled. To reboot your phone in Safe Mode:

  1. Wake up the screen
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. In the “Power options” menu, tap and hold “Power off”
  4. At the “Reboot to safe mode” prompt, tap “Restart” and wait for the device to reboot
  5. Once the phone restarts, it should display a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower-left corner of the screen
  6. To remove an application, first open the “Settings” menu
  7. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  8. Swipe to the “Downloaded” tab
  9. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  10. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and select “Restart” from the power options menu

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing these problems by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results as a factory reset without losing any personal data on the internal memory.

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Next, press & hold “Volume down”
  3. Press and hold “Power”
  4. When the phone vibrates, release “Power”
  5. When the “hTC download mode” screen appears, release “Volume down” too
  6. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “reboot to bootloader”
  7. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  8. In the white bootloader screen, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode”
  9. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  10. Wait (up to 2 minutes) for the “Android system recovery” menu to appear. If the device shows a red triangle with an exclamation mark instead, hold “Power” and press & release “Volume Up” to continue
  11. In the Android System Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe cache partition”
  12. Press “Power”
  13. After the cache partition is cleared, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  14. Press “Power” one last time and wait for the device to reboot
