NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files from the HTC Desire 650.

Restore App Data:

  1. Make sure the device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Restore from HTC Backup” and follow the on-screen steps to choose a backup account

Restore Contacts from a Google Account:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Under “Personal”, tap “Accounts & Sync”
  3. Sign in with the Google account containing the contact backups
  4. Access the account’s sync settings
  5. Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync All”

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC Desire 650 to your computer via USB
  2. Turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  4. Copy and paste the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directories they originate from
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC phone to your Mac via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
  4. Copy the files and transfer them on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) they originate from
  5. After the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can”
  6. Safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
