WARNING! Master resetting your smartphone will return it to original factory settings. It will also delete all personal data stored on the internal memory, including custom ringtones, images, apps, downloaded content, apps etc. However, data stored on the SIM or SD cards will not be affected.

Master Resetting via Settings Menu:

  1. After backing up the necessary files, tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Swipe to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"
  4. Mark or clear the check boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
  5. Tap "Backup account" and select one. If necessary, follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
  6. Tap "Factory data reset"
  7. At the warning message, review the information and mark or clear the "Erase SD card" check box
  8. When ready, tap "Reset phone" > "Erase everything"
  9. Tap "OK"

Master Resetting via Hardware Keys:

NOTE: You should use this method of factory resetting your device in case the method above (via settings menu) is not an option. If your smartphone freezes, crashes, is unresponsive or otherwise preventing you from factory resetting your handset via the settings menu, then follow the steps below instead:

  1. Turn off your LG G3 S
  2. Press and hold the "Volume down" and "Power" buttons at the same time
  3. At the LG logo, release and re-press the "Power" button, but keep holding the "Volume down" key
  4. At the "Factory data reset" screen, press "Volume Down" to navigate to and highlight "Yes"
  5. Press "Power" to confirm
  6. At the "Erase all user data and restore default settings" screen, use "Volume down" to highlight "Yes"
  7. Press "Power" and wait for your smartphone to reset and restart

Updating to the Latest OS Version:

NOTE: After resetting your smartphone, the device will run the same version of Android it arrived with out of the box. If newer updates are available, you need to re-apply them after the reset, by following the steps below:

  1. Make sure your smartphone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. From the home screen, tap "Apps"
  3. Tap "Settings" and go to "System"
  4. Tap "About phone" > "Update center" > "System updates"
  5. Press the "Check now" button, and follow any additional on-screen instructions to download and apply the available software updates
