Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Go to the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Battery & power saving” under “Management”
  5. Tap “Battery saver” to enable the feature
  6. Optionally, customize how Battery Saving Mode works by selecting a battery percentage and enabling / disabling available features

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not being used. To do so:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Access the “Networks” tab
  3. Scroll to “Connectivity” and tap “Tethering” > “Mobile Hotspot”
  4. Disable hotspot and press “Back”
  5. Tap the switches associated with “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” to disable them
  6. Go to the “General” tab
  7. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location” (GPS)
  8. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving (Networks only)”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Display”
  3. Under “Basic Settings”, tap “Brightness”
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left
  5. Go back to “Display”
  6. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By decreasing the amount of data being synced, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & Sync”
  3. Disable “Auto-sync data”
  4. Select an application under “Accounts” to change the available sync settings

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party applications can have an effect on your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that the applications perform regular processes in the background. Thus you might improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party applications.

  1. Tap “Apps” o the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Tap “Apps” under “Phone Management”
  4. Go to the “Downloaded” tab
  5. Tap and hold an unused third party app
  6. Tap “Force Stop” to disable it, or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove it completely

Disable Background Data:

  1. Access “Settings”
  2. From the “Network” tab, tap “Mobile data”
  3. Tap “Menu” and enable “Restrict background data”
  4. Tap “OK”

Use 4G instead of 2G:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access the “Networks” tab
  3. Under “Connectivity”, tap “More”
  4. Tap “Mobile networks’ > “Network mode”
  5. Select “GSM only”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. From the “General” tab, scroll to “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “About phone” > “Update Center”
  4. Tap “System Updates” > “Check for updates”
  5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it
