Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Battery & power saving under Management
- Tap Battery saver to enable the feature
- Optionally, customize how Battery Saving Mode works by selecting a battery percentage and enabling / disabling available features
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not being used. To do so:
- Open the Settings menu
- Access the Networks tab
- Scroll to Connectivity and tap Tethering > Mobile Hotspot
- Disable hotspot and press Back
- Tap the switches associated with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to disable them
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to Personal and tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode > Battery saving (Networks only)
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display
- Under Basic Settings, tap Brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- Go back to Display
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By decreasing the amount of data being synced, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to the Settings menu
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts & Sync
- Disable Auto-sync data
- Select an application under Accounts to change the available sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can have an effect on your phones battery performance even if you dont use them assuming that the applications perform regular processes in the background. Thus you might improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party applications.
- Tap Apps o the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap Apps under Phone Management
- Go to the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold an unused third party app
- Tap Force Stop to disable it, or tap Uninstall > OK to remove it completely
Disable Background Data:
- Access Settings
- From the Network tab, tap Mobile data
- Tap Menu and enable Restrict background data
- Tap OK
Use 4G instead of 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Access the Networks tab
- Under Connectivity, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Certain software updates can improve battery life, so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Go to Settings
- From the General tab, scroll to Phone Management
- Tap About phone > Update Center
- Tap System Updates > Check for updates
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it
