I am having problem with my Verizon RAZR staying connected to my bluetooth headset. I have tried the Jabra 160,Motorola 810, and now have the plantronics 510.

The problem is after I connect the headset, it will disconnect by itself. The time it stays connected changes. It does not seem to be related to distance.

Has anyone else had this happen?

    Thanks

    Mark

I use the Motorola 850 and have not had that problem at all. You may need to take it back to Verizon.

The 850 was the best for not droping off line, but the people I was talking to complained that they could hear all the background noise. Thats why I got the plantronics, it has noise canceling that works real nice.

I was hoping I had some setting not correct, but I guess I'll have to bring it in and have a tech look at it.

    Thanks

    I have the same problem.

Only way to get it to reconnect is to reboot the phone.
If you dig into this a little further...
When the phone drops the headset and you go into the phone and manually disconnect the headset, then reconnect you'll get 'bluetooth busy' error message.
It will not reconnect and must be rebooted.

    Took it into Alltell.

    They told me:

"You need to turn the phone off once a day so it can reconnect to the towers and reset itself"
She insisted this is by design and not some defect (bug in the software.)
WTF? I've never heard such BS.

What does connecting to towers have to do with Bluetooth?

Surely engineering is aware of the software bug and an upcoming release will fix this - I hope.

    Re: RAZR/bluetooth headset problem

Thats exactly what happens. Rebooting the phone is the only way to reconnect.

I usally leave my phone on 24/7 so I will try to shut it off once a day, but it has happened after I turn the phone off/on to reboot.

    Thanks

    Re: RAZR/bluetooth headset problem

After it did this twice today (and was rebooted twice) I figured this was BS so I called Motorola directly.

Motorola Service says a phone should NEVER need to be rebooted.
They said the phone is defective and since I only got it a week ago that Alltel should not give me any grief about replacing it.

OK, so another 2 hours of my life wasted on cell phones - back to Alltel. Alltell still insists that a phone needs to be rebooted once a day, BUT that they would replace my phone.
At first they started to give me a remanufactured one, but I questioned this and they then replaced it with a new one.
Phonebook was transferable, but settings were not.

    It's working at this moment.

I'll report back in a few days if this has solved the problem. Motorola didn't bat an eye at saying something was wrong and it needs to be repaired. I suppose that means they are aware of this problem.

    Ok thanks.

I'll call Motorola, my phone is 4 months old so I don't think Verizon will help me. I like the phone but this will be the 4th one since Christmas.

Doesn't matter how old your phone is... Verizon will help you out. Your phone has a 1 year warranty, which is honored by Verizon.

    Re: RAZR/bluetooth headset problem

Just got back from the Verizon store with a new phone, number 4. I hope this is the last one I have to replace. The Salem NH Verizon store techs are very helpful they troubleshot the phone, swaped out phones and transfered my phone numbers in less than 1/2 hour. The tech said it was a software problem.

As soon as I got home I paired it with my plantronics 510 and it droped it after 5 min, but picked it back up by itself in about 30 sec.

Thanks for the help, hope this is the last problem.

    Re: RAZR/bluetooth headset problem

Well, less than 24 hrs and the new phone is droping the headset again, at first it would recapture the headset after about 30sec but now I need to turn the phone off/on and reconnect. Yesterday when it was connected I heard a short/faint tone about every 10 sec in my headset when it was linked, now nothing.
I guess I'll have to call Motorola on this.

    This is so much fun...

geez....you Americains have some pretty willy nilly issues down there.

4th phone? If you're using the same headset....it HAS to be the headset failing not the phone? lol...I kno wI Know., joking.

Man., I had no problems so far with my razrs., v635., S710a and W600 using an H500 & Hs850.

I've been blown away by the distance I can get on my W600 and 850

Bloody hell, that's appalling. In the UK, if a vendor tries to dick you around when a product's still under warranty, you just mention your statutory rights under the consumer protection act and they give up in a second. But most of the time you don't get d*cked around; shops & providers know the law and won't try it on.

My provider, O2, posted me a new V3 the other day because the old one stopped charging properly; they even admitted some models have known hardware issues.

    Re: RAZR/bluetooth headset problem

    Ok, the latest.

The new phone (3 weeks old) still drops the headset, but it is better. I called Motorola and was told that the phone has verizon software, not motorola software. I was given a phone number for tech support just for the verizon RAZR VC3, but I could not get through.

I went back to the verizon store with the phone and the tech told me they had a problem with the RAZR software and they had new software that would fix everything.

They installed the new software and I hope it fixes it, but I am not hopeful.
