I purchased the e815 but I cannot seem to get the front display to stay on. I know that the backlit display(wall paper) should shut off to save the battery but shouldn't I be able to just see things like date/time, battery life and signal strength? I have tried all the options and even read the manual. I have had several Motorola phones in the past like the v60c, v60t and T730 and the front display always stays on. Any help would be appreciated.

My phone takes forever just to show my background picture too. It works fine, just when I open my phone.. I gotta wait a minute.
Did you figure out what the hell is going on with it?

You may want to try turning the power saving feature off if that doesn't work it's most likely a feature to save on battery life and maybe you could turn the backlight on for a longer time. But if I ever need to check the time I just press the right smart key and the backlight lights up, without interferring with anything else.
