There would be if you mean by data kit, Software and Data cable together in one package. Different model Motorola phones would have different plug-ins meaning different cables.

Now if you mean Motorola Phone Tools, the software program that come is the Data Kit that's another story. And yes the motorola L6 works with MPT, as long as you have a USB data cable or bluetooth adapter to connect it to your computer. It had better since they sell it on the Motorola website with the CD and cable, for that phone.

Does the data kit allow you to save text messages to your computer? I have a motorola Rizr phone.

one thing you can do depending on the phone you have is to just get a standard usb cable that fits, its a lot cheaper. I got my Q off of ebay and just used my cameras usb cable and saved money
