Nextel i880 bluetooth help

I recently upgraded from my nextel i870 to the i880. I was using the Gennum nxzen 5000 which worked fine with my 870 but did not work well with the i880. I got rid of this headset and purchased the samsung wep420. Once again I have having problem with static. In fact the phone keeps disconnecting saying weak signal even if the phone and headset are right next to each other. I have also had the software on the phone updated to the latest update. Can anyone suggest either a bluetooth headset that will work with this phone or perhaps a suggestion as to what they did to get their i880 to link properly with the headset? Thanks.
