Transferring Files Using iTunes:

iTunes is a great tool that allows you to synchronize the contacts on your iPhone with your Google account. This makes it easy for you to then sync the contacts from the Google account with your Moto E. Synced contacts include their image, address, email address and any other contact notes / information available. For this method you are required to use a computer with iTunes installed and access to the Internet

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect the iPhone to your computer
  3. After it successfully connects, the iPhone will appear in iTunes. Click the device to open its summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts With"
  5. Click the drop-down menu and select "Google Contacts"
  6. Register your Google account in iTunes. If you've already done this, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account from the list
  7. Click "Apply" to commence the syncing process
  8. Once that's done, register the same account on your Moto E. To add one, go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Set the Google account so that it can sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Transferring Contacts via iCloud:

In case you've activated the iCloud service on your iPhone, then the contacts stored on your device should also be backed up onto your iCloud account. By accessing your account using a computer with Internet connection, you can export these contacts in VCF format. To do so:

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your computer and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Sign in with your iCloud account and click "Contacts"
  3. From the list of contacts, select the ones that you wish to share with your Moto E
  4. Click the "Settings" icon depicting a cog wheel, and select "Export vCard"
  5. A VCF file will be downloaded on your computer
  6. Import the file to Google Contacts, or alternatively, connect the Moto E to the computer and copy the vCard file to the "sdcard" directory. Then, launch the contacts application and use the "Import" function from the menu in order to import the contents of the VCF file into your phonebook

Using "My Contacts Backup" to Transfer Contacts:

My Contacts Backup is an iOS application that can back up and transfer the contacts from your iPhone without needing a computer. The application compiles your contacts and is able to send them to your Android phone via email. To perform this method:

  1. Launch the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Open the app and tap "Backup"
  3. After your contacts have been backed up, tap "Email". This will open a new email containing the vCard file as an attachment
  4. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  5. On the Moto E, open the email and download the vCard file
  6. Use the contacts application on the Motorola smartphone in order to import the vCard file's contents to your phonebook

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Last but not least, you can use the "Send Anywhere" iOS and Android application in order to transfer your contacts from the iPhone over to the Moto E. The application performs file transfer over a P2P connection, so there's no need for a computer in order to complete this guide:

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on the Moto E
  2. From the App Store, download the same app on your iPhone
  3. Open the application on both smartphones
  4. From the iPhone, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts that you wish to share, and tap "Send"
  6. Lastly, select a sharing method. By tapping "Generate QR Code" you can create a code on the iPhone which can be scanned with the Moto E's camera to commence the transfer. Alternatively, you can tap "Receive" on the Android device, and type in the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone
