Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Turn on “Battery saver”

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, drag the “Status” bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location”, and “Bluetooth” tiles to disable these features
  3. For additional GPS options, go to “Settings” > “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings”
  6. Under “Wireless & Networks”, tap “More”
  7. Tap and disable “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”

Use 2G Connectivity:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G connectivity.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn on “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Under “Device”, tap “Display”
  3. If necessary, disable “Adaptive brightness” and tap “Brightness level”
  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to turn off

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party applications can perform regular background processes even when they are not in use, and thus you could improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn off the app
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, and it’s recommended to keep your phone’s OS up to date at all times. To verify if new software updates are available:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll down to and tap “About phone”
  4. Tap “System updates” and , if available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install updates (NOTE: the update might require you to restart your phone)
