You can use the S Pen to select items or perform certain functions. Additionally, using the S Pen with the button pressed will provide additional conveniences, for example you can capture a screenshot with the button pressed.
When you pull out the S Pen from its slot, the Galaxy Note II will detect it and perform the following functions:

• it will turn on the screen, in case it was turned off
• if you pull out the S Pen while you’re on a phone call, your smartphone will launch the S Note
• if you’re on the Home screen, it will open the S Pen page

Things you should take into consideration regarding the S Pen:

• take good care of the tip of the S Pen as it’s not replaceable. If it gets dull, you’ll have to purchase a new S Pen.
• in case your S Pen is not working the way it should, it’s recommended that you take it to a Service Center, preferably a Samsung Service center.
• in order to have the best results from the S Pen, you should keep it mostly perpendicular to the touch screen and try to avoid using it at sharp angles.
• you will not be able to activate the Menu and Back buttons with the S Pen.
